Ted Hallett

Artist

A painter of light and colour, I am self-taught and with a life time of experience.

I have successfully combined careers as a design engineer and as an artist but have painted full-time since 2002.

I work in a variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolour and gouache. Most of my work is figurative, sometimes impressionistic and occasionally abstracted.

Prior to 1990, I painted mainly in Cornwall, working in situ around the streets of St Ives, with which I have had a long association. The Cornish coastal scene is still a feature of my work, together with local scenes along the Thames. In the last 10 years, I have branched out into more expressive work, which I produce from experience and imagination in my garden studio.

I have held many solo exhibitions in Henley, Reading and London. I am a regular exhibitor with the Henley Guild and other local venues. For the last 17 years, I have had a permanent exhibition of paintings at my local Health Centre. It is enjoyed by patients and staff and raises money for medical equipment.
